At Syven, we know our business is all the better when employees have a strong drive for acquiring new knowledge. We view development as a continuous learning process. Employees understand that adding new skills and capabilities better positions them for the future. That might mean enriching one’s current job, learning about different departments or seeking learning opportunities outside Syven.

We encourage employees to take the initiative in pursuing development options that best fit their career objectives. We encourage ongoing learning that allows employees to enhance their job skills, add new dimensions to their current job, and become flexible and adaptable as their roles and the expectations for them change.

Performance Expectations

Syven's performance appraisal process involves annual performance goals, employee self assessments, and periodic appraisals. This process also includes development discussions and planning. As part of the appraisal process, employees and their manager identify and discuss training needs and learning opportunities directly related to the current job, and agree on the methods and timeframes employees will use in their ongoing development.

To support employees' development efforts, Syven provides internal and external learning opportunities and encourages employees to use them as they follow through on their development plan.

Internal development may include taking on new assignments and projects; one-on-one coaching with a manager, supervisor or peer to increase skill levels or develop new skills; self-study options such as books, journal articles, video, audio or computer-based programs; or in-house training and development seminars.

External development may include taking courses at colleges or technical schools using Syven's Tuition Assistance Program, or participating in seminars or conferences. The Tuition Assistance Program, administered through Human Resources, reimburses eligible employees for tuition, up to an established maximum amount, for job- or career-related courses that meet the program's criteria.
